    Hi Sandra,

I would think that your heater does take a regular 500 Perfection heater tank, but not absolutely positive as I don't own that model.

    I'm sorry I don't have more information.

    Hello M.J. Pitch,

You need to soak the entire fuel tank in a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water. This can take several days to remove all the rust. Take the fuel tank out of the mixture and then rinse with hot soapy water. If the gallery still does not turn to come off, then spray it with WD40 or Kroil. Once again, this may takes a few days of doing that before it comes loose.

Jim, we picked up a 525 and now see that the galley assembly seems seized in place and won’t unscrew, and noticed rust inside the fuel reservoir. Any advice to loosen this and address the rust? The rust has not penetrated through the tank but covers the interior surface.

    Hello David,

You will need to hunt on Ebay. You also should consider joining the Perfection Heater Group on Facebook. You can buy parts from some of the members at times.

    Hi Mel, or Jimbo,
I have a Perfection 520 heater. Mine has a little plaque that reads, "FOR BEST RESULTS USE PEARL OIL" on the base. What are other differences found on the 520 from the rest of the 500 series? What makes the 520 less mentioned than most others? Were there not as many made? How close is the 510 to the 520? Sorry about so many questions.

Hi, thanks for the info provided here. I recently purchased a 525 model in great condition with very little rust, but was wondering how to take care of the exterior and what products could be used on it?

    thank you!

Upon closer observation it is actually a 525 not 535.

    Can I send a photo.

    FROM JIM SILVER: "Jim Siver
The 500 series of Perfections started produced from around 1915 to 1925. When the Perfection series 1500 & 1600 series of heaters were introduced. Perfection continued to produce the #525 & # 510 model heaters until they were replaced with the #525-M in the late 1930’s . The #510 is a smaller sized heater I call a Junior. Stack is 7” not 8” like the standard size heaters. It’s 2” shorter. The fount is smaller in diameter but still uses the #500 wick and same flame spreader and gallery. These approximate dates come from old Perfection sales pamphlets."

    Hello Luis,

Are you referring to the two little metal 'rods' that are inside the tank? If so, you don't need those. Just toss them.

Please use the main contact form if you would like to contact me directly with further questions.

I am restoring a 525. Inside the fuel tank are what looks like two stabilizers. They fell out and I need to know how to put them back in ?

    Thanks
